Origin
Wild Lettuce (Lactuca virosa) is a herbaceous plant that occurs naturally in Europe and Asia, and now also grows in North America. The plant is related to common lettuce, but is distinguished by its larger leaves, longer stems and characteristic milky sap. When the plant is damaged, it secretes a white fluid, lactucarium, which has traditionally been associated with relaxation and rest. In summer, Wild Lettuce produces small yellow flowers resembling those of the dandelion. The use of Wild Lettuce has a long history, with mentions in the herbal lore of the ancient Egyptians and Greeks. Today the herb is valued as a natural aid to bring body and mind into balance.Available contents
