Capsules & Suppositories
This category contains products brought into a solid form, so not as an oil in a bottle or a syringe. It concerns two forms of administration that differ considerably in technical terms, but have one thing in common. The contents are measured per unit in a casing or in a carrier. At the moment you'll find the fresh capsules here. The raw material comes from our own production and a laboratory analysis is ready for every batch.
What a capsule is
A capsule is a casing with a fixed amount of contents. That casing is made of gelatine, made from animal collagen, or of plant-based cellulose. That plant-based variant is usually called HPMC, in full hydroxypropyl methylcellulose, and is the vegetarian choice. A capsule consists of two halves that slide over each other, a cap and a body. The filling is measured by weight, so each unit contains the same amount. That is the reason this form is chosen. With a liquid from a bottle the amount differs per drop; with a capsule it is fixed. The casing fully seals the contents. As long as the capsule is intact, the taste and smell of the oil are not released.
What a suppository is
A suppository is a solid form based on a fat that melts at body temperature. Classically that is cocoa butter. Nowadays hard plant fats with a precise melting range are also used. The fat is melted, mixed with the raw material and poured into a mould. Then it hardens into a torpedo or a cone. Here too the amount per unit is fixed, because the mould has a fixed volume. Taste plays no role at all in this form, which is the second reason to choose a solid form of administration.
Difference in storage
The distinction between the two forms shows in how they are stored. A capsule stays hard at room temperature. A suppository is precisely made to melt and softens well below thirty degrees.
- Capsules: dry and dark, at room temperature, in the closed packaging.
- Fresh capsules: follow the storage method stated on the packaging.
- Suppositories: store cool, for example in the fridge, and leave in the foil.
- Both forms: not in sunlight and not next to a heat source.
We have a laboratory analysis made of every batch. It states the measured cannabinoid contents and the results of the checks for heavy metals, pesticides and microbiology. There is a batch number on the packaging. Give us that number and we'll send the report that belongs to your product.
