Ingredients
- Scutellaria lateriflora, dried, coarsely cut herb (25 grams)
Use
- Use 1 to 2 teaspoons per cup of hot water (about 250 ml)
- Let the tea steep for 5 to 20 minutes; the longer, the fuller the taste
- Strain the herbs and drink warm
- For a milder taste, honey or lemon can be added
- Can also be combined with other calming herbs such as Valerian or Chamomile
- Use water of around 90 °C (not boiling) for optimal extraction
- A well-sealed teapot or mug with a lid helps to retain volatile compounds

Skullcap (Scutellaria lateriflora), also known as blue skullcap or mad dog skullcap, is a herb that has been used worldwide for centuries within traditional herbal medicine. The plant belongs to the mint family (Lamiaceae) and originates from North America. There are about 200 different Skullcap species, spread all over the world. In Chinese herbal culture a related species was already used in the first centuries AD in the well-known remedy Huang Qin. Thanks to this rich history and wide use, Skullcap is still valued today as a natural herb to support relaxation and inner calm.Available contents
