What is Crystal Resilliant Broad Spectrum CBD distillate? CBD distillate is a very pure form of hemp oil, usually produced through fractional distillation methods. Our CBD distillate resembles clear golden honey in consistency and generally approaches around 82% cannabinoids in purity, depending on the quality of the base extract used for the distillation. It is also called CRD, which stands for Crystal Resilliant Distillate, meaning it does not crystallise (does not go hard). This CBD distillate is suitable for a wide range of end products that require high purity and potency in oil form. How is CBD distillate made? CBD distillate starts as a crude hemp oil produced through supercritical CO2 or ethanol extraction. This crude hemp oil extract contains plant waxes, lipids, chlorophyll and other impurities and generally has a brown or dark green (almost black) colour. This crude hemp extract is then winterised at low temperature to effectively separate the waxes, lipids and other plant impurities from the active substances. Finally, this winterised extract is fractionally distilled through a slow heating process in which the individual constituents are vaporised at specific boiling points. THC-free This THC-free Broad Spectrum CBD distillate is comparable to a full spectrum CBD distillate, except that it has undergone an additional distillation to fractionally remove the traces of Delta-9 THC present in legal hemp extracts. CBD isolate versus distillate CBD isolate is pure cannabidiol that has been refined and isolated to a purity of up to 99.9% of pharmaceutical quality, usually in a crystalline form. CBD isolate can be useful in formulations that are almost 100% pure and that seek only the effects of CBD in particular. Broad Spectrum CBD distillate, on the other hand, offers CBD at a purity of around 60% CBD, together with the full complement of other cannabinoids found in the hemp plant, such as CBG, CBDV and THCV, as well as most of the common cannabis terpenes. These plant substances interact in a complex way with the primary cannabinoids CBD and THC in the body (referred to as the entourage effect), and for this reason many consumers prefer a full or broad spectrum oil over a concentrated single isolate.
